The Decline and Fall of Heavenly

Heavenly's third studio album, The Decline and Fall of Heavenly, is a must-listen, and a diamond in the rough from the 90's indie pop scene. Released in 1994, the album is full of charm, and innocence; their classic "heavenly" sound. Musically, the album is a perfect mix of polish and raw, which allows the band's true emotions to shine. The band sets a great tone of upbeat rythm, whilst the vocals sing about bittersweet love and introspection. Itchy Chin, the fourth track out of eight, is in my opinion, the best song on this album. Caputuring the band's quirky and whimsical nature, Amelia Fletcher playfully sings about irritation, annoyance, and distraction, using the song's title as a metaphor. Musically, the song's tempo is upbeat, and lively, with jangly guitars, crisp drums, and lighthearted vocals. Overall, this album is a testament to the evolution of Heavenly's sound, whilst still maintaining the classic "heavenly" sound. For fans of this genre, this album offers a perfect blend of sweetness and depth, that only Heavenly can deliver. It is a must listen, as is the rest of Heavenly's discography. 80/100
